“Let’s Preserve Biodiversity”: An Environmental Meeting at Satbayev University
A meeting with specialists from the Ile-Alatau State National Park was held at Satbayev University as part of the “Let’s Preserve Biodiversity” initiative. The event brought together students interested in ecology and nature conservation and took place in a lively and productive atmosphere.
The participants heard from Tursymbay Kalima, a specialist in the park’s scientific research department, and Perizat Sailaukenova, a tourism engineer. They spoke about the importance of ecosystem preservation, the park’s initiatives, and opportunities for students to participate in environmental projects.
At the end of the meeting, young scientists from KazNU took the floor: PhD student and entomologist Islam Galymzhan discussed the role of pollinating insects in ecosystems, while biology faculty student Symbat Zhambasbay presented the new “Aralap” project. The speakers encouraged students to join the volunteer club, participate in tree planting, ecological clean-ups, the protection of rare flora and fauna, and to promote a culture of responsible care for nature.
Special attention was given to the citizen science platform Aralap.kz, where anyone can record nature observations and make a real contribution to scientific research without any specialized education.
