Satbayev University is open to everyone: University has become a platform for discussing the inclusive education with Mazhilis deputies

Satbayev University hosted a meeting with deputies of Parliament Mazhilis of the Republic of Kazakhstan on inclusive education issues. The event brought together experts, teachers, representatives of the community of people with special needs and all those who are not indifferent to the topic of an accessible environment.
Deputy of Parliament Mazhilis Tansaule Serikov spoke in detail about what the state and Committee for Socio-Cultural Development are doing to make education accessible:
- People with special needs have the right to study at all universities they want. It is necessary to create conditions under which they can study in a comfortable and accessible environment, without indulgences, but also without barriers. It is believed that they need help, it's time to break this stereotype. They do not need help, but support - and the opportunity to be full participants in the educational process," said the deputy.
Public figures and representatives of the inclusive community also took part in the discussion. Alexander Grushevsky, a member of Board of the Kazakh Society of the blind, said that health restrictions are not an obstacle to the desire to live a full life:
- Accessibility is not only a ramp at the entrance, it is when a person with a disability can fully participate in life, study, work, communicate, despite their age. I'm 55, and I want to study. The main thing is to give the opportunity, and we have the strength, desire and energy, said Alexander.
Satbayev University takes many practical steps to make education accessible to everyone here. University was one of the first to join the state grant program for students with special needs and opened Center for support and maintenance of inclusive education. Center is engaged in updating the degree programs, helping teachers improve their skills to work with students with special needs. Students have the opportunity to study online and use the services of a sign language interpreter, as well as purchase a device for printing the educational materials in Braille.
The meeting with deputies Tansaule Serikov and Yerlan Abdiyev became an important platform for strengthening the bond between the community and parliamentarians and once again confirmed Satbayev University's commitment to be open to all who want to study and develop.
