Satbayev University scientists have been granted state awards for their contribution to science and technology growth

On the eve of Republic Day, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev awarded Satbayev University scientists for outstanding achievements in the field of science and technology, noting their contribution to the development of the country and innovative economy.

Two projects of Satbayev University scientists were awarded the al-Farabi State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of science and technology, an indicator of the highest recognition of the achievements of scientists and technicians to society and the state.

The first is the creation of Atlas of Hydrogeological Maps of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a fundamental work that systematizes data on the country's groundwater and forms a unified geographic information system throughout the republic. Atlas has become the basis for the rational use and protection of water resources, and is used by Water Resources and Irrigation Ministry, Geology Committee, regional akimats and universities in evolving the water supply programs and environmental policy.

Among the authors are Malis Absametov, director of U.M. Akhmedsafin Institute of Hydrogeology and Geoecology, doctor of sciences, Rahmaulla Ayazbayev, general director of AlmatyHydro Geology, and Yerzhan Kuldeyev, Vice Rector for Science and Corporate Development at Satbayev University, candidate of technical sciences. According to international experts, the work meets international mapping standards and can serve as a model for other countries in the region.

The second noted project is devoted to the development of vacuum-thermal technology for producing the branded selenium from substandard raw materials of non-ferrous metallurgy. The new method makes it possible to obtain pure selenium with the 99.5% content from copper sludge, turning it into a valuable industrial resource. The research is important for the environmentally sound processing of raw materials and strengthening the raw material independence of Kazakhstan. Among the authors are Bagdaulet Kenzhaliyev, director general of Metallurgy and Enrichment Institute, doctor of technical sciences, scientists from Satbayev University and specialists from Kazakhmys Corporation.

State awards were also presented to university representatives for their personal achievements.

First Vice-rector for International Cooperation and Strategic Development Samgat Yermekbayev, author of the perfume composition with the aroma of red aport Gulzhan Tuzelbayeva and associate professor Nazim Ozekbayeva were awarded “Eren enbegi ushin" medals.

Professor Auzhan Sakabekov was awarded "Kazakstannyn enbek sinirgen kayratkeri" title. Their work and scientific activity have become a recognition of Satbayev University's contribution to the national and global scientific community development.

Al-Farabi State Prize award was a confirmation of the scientific leadership of Satbayev University and the potential of Kazakhstani technologies capable of competing at the global level. President Tokayev has repeatedly stressed that the development of science and technology is the key to sustainable growth and technological independence of the country.

Congratulations to the laureates and wish them new discoveries and achievements!
