Satbayev University Strengthens Sustainable Development Cooperation: Three-Day SDG Training in the Mangystau Region

As part of its mission to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and foster regional human capital, Rustam Akhmetov, Manager of the SDG Project Office at Satbayev University, conducted a three-day training for entrepreneurs and managers of the Mangystau Region on the topic “Sustainable Development, ESG, and Compliance.”
The program aimed to raise awareness among local businesses about modern approaches to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) responsibility, strengthen leadership competencies, and promote the implementation of international compliance standards in management practices.
According to Rustam Akhmetov, the goal of such seminars is “not just to educate, but to create regional hubs of meaning and sustainable solutions. Mangystau, with its industrial potential and environmental vulnerability, is a key region for introducing ESG approaches. We want Kazakhstan’s businesses to become not only competitive, but also responsible players in the global sustainable development movement.”
Participants included representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises, the manufacturing sector, and local government bodies. The training sessions were held in an interactive format, incorporating the analysis of both Kazakhstani and international case studies, discussions on regional challenges, and strategies for transforming corporate culture.
