The Future of Transport in Kazakhstan: Satbayev University Brings Together Science and Business to Advance Electromobility

A landmark roundtable titled “Development of Electromobility and Autonomous Vehicles in the Republic of Kazakhstan” was held at Satbayev University. The meeting brought together leading industry experts, representatives of government bodies, and the research community to develop a roadmap for the country’s technological sovereignty.

During the discussion, experts reviewed the current state of the sector and its key challenges. Particular attention was given to reports on infrastructure development and the regulatory framework for autonomous transport. Satbayev University confirmed its readiness to support projects related to the creation of charging infrastructure and the development of software for autonomous systems.

Participants emphasized the need to train a new generation of specialists — engineers in electrochemistry, sensor technologies, and artificial intelligence for transport. In collaboration with industry partners, prospects for cooperation with domestic car manufacturers and IT companies were also discussed, including testing autonomous technologies on the university’s platform.

“We are moving from theory to concrete engineering solutions. The development of electromobility is not only about ecology but also about creating new high-tech jobs and advancing related industries — from lithium extraction to microelectronics production,” the participants noted.

Satbayev University continues to strengthen its position as a center of excellence where scientific research is transformed into real industrial standards, securing Kazakhstan’s place among the region’s technological leaders.
