There was held at Satbayev University 12th meeting of Kazakh-Chinese Subcommittee on geology and subsoil use at Cooperation Committee

The meeting of Kazakhstani scientists with their Chinese colleagues at the meeting of Subcommittee on geology and subsoil use of Kazakh-Chinese Cooperation Committee became an important platform for discussing the joint geological studies of the border territories of the two countries. Special attention was paid to the geological structure of the Dzongar Alatau and the differences of the two countries’ geological models.

Creation of geological maps of the border areas of China and Kazakhstan is an important task for both countries, as these regions are rich in minerals. However, the mapping process faces a number of challenges that require joint solutions.

The parties discussed the implementation of the joint project to compare and link 1:1,000,000 maps of border areas, develop common standards based on modern global approaches, and refine the region's resource potential. Subcommittee members reviewed the project’s current status and the prospects for continued work.

The meeting was co-chaired by Yerlan Akbarov, Chairman of Geology Committee at Industry and Construction Ministry of Kazakhstan, and Xu Xueyi, Deputy director of Chinese Geological Survey. The meeting was attended by representatives of Natural Resources Ministry of China, Academy of RK Mineral Resources and Satbayev University, who expressed great interest in cooperation:

"We are interested in deepening the practical cooperation in the field of geology and subsoil use," Mr. Xu Xueyi said at the meeting, "for the sustainable development of both countries. This will help us unlock the potential of the extractive industry and the investments made in it.”

At the end of the meeting, the parties signed a protocol that will help strengthen scientific collaboration between Kazakhstan and China in the geology and subsoil use field. The agreements reached will not only improve the quality of geological maps, but also create a solid foundation for further research, exchange of experience and joint development of mineral resources in the border areas.
