Presidential Advisor Alexey Tsoi got acquainted with Satbayev University’s scientific infrastructure
Alexey Tsoi, Advisor to President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on social issues, visited Satbayev University to get acquainted with University's technology parks and laboratories and discuss the creation of an engineering hub for new technologies on its basis. During the visit, more attention was paid to modern trends in engineering education and effective cooperation between science, business and the state, necessary for creating the knowledge economy.
The guest was presented with University’s scientific infrastructure and key projects implemented jointly with industrial partners: a technology park for the mining and metallurgical complex of the country and an innovation center in the field of construction Technopark Stroytech. Satbayev University is a national research technical university that ranks 331st in the world university ranking. Increasing the University’s scientific potential allowed us to conclude long-term contracts with companies such as Kazakhmys, Kazakhaltyn and ERG, as well as launch a number of promising technological projects with high scaling potential.
During the visit, Alexey Tsoi visited Innovative Engineering Center for the mining and metallurgical complex, including laboratories for materials science, digital modeling of mining processes, and centers for geotechnical and hydrogeological research. Particular attention was paid to projects for the deep processing of mineral raw materials and creation of technologies that ensure the growth of added value of products.
Another focus was Stroytech Technology park, which includes a laboratory for elaborating the composite materials based on polymer concrete. Park is engaged in creating innovative construction solutions and is a platform for PhD-personnel training. Advisor also visited MIT FabLab innovation complex, which develops micro-qualification programs that expand the possibilities of applied education focused on mechanical engineering demands. Project is being implemented with the support of Caterpillar Foundation in collaboration with Purdue University (USA).
Alexey Vladimirovich Tsoi is a Kazakhstani doctor, candidate of medical sciences, statesman who served as Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since October 2025, he has been appointed Advisor to President on social issues. Following the visit, he thanked University's management and staff for the open dialogue, stressing that the visit to Satbayev University was another confirmation of Kazakhstan's strategic course towards the development of human capital, technology and science as the basis for sustainable growth and competitiveness of the state.
