Satbayev University has opened a unique laboratory complex, bringing together scientists and production

As part of celebrating Science Day, Satbayev University hosted the grand opening of high-tech laboratories covering a wide range of fields: from nanotechnology and functional materials to digital modeling of mining and construction. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayassat Nurbek, as well as representatives of the scientific community and industry.

Center of the new innovation cluster is International R&D Center for advanced functional materials and their composites. Center unites laboratories for chemical, physical and technological analysis, acting as a platform for cooperation between Kazakhstani and foreign scientists. After the opening of the center, memoranda were signed on creating the spin-off companies and start-ups, whose task is to effectively introduce innovations into the industry.

Within the development of STROYTECH Technology Park, a laboratory for evolving the composite materials based on polymer concrete was launched. Laboratory will create innovative construction solutions and become the platform for PhD personnel training. Two new laboratories on nanotechnology and nanomaterials have joined it, which will allow conducting the research in promising areas of construction.

The guests were interested in the new Digital Mining Simulation Laboratory, equipped with modern systems that allow for accurate analysis and modeling of mining processes. The laboratory has already started cooperation with the largest subsoil users of the country, including Kazzinc, Altynalmas and Kazakhmys companies.

Based on Satbayev University’s Rector Meiram Begentayev, the opening of new laboratories is not just an upgrade of infrastructure, but also a contribution to the technological renewal of the country:

"We are not just opening laboratories; we are building an ecosystem in which science works for the economy. This infrastructure will become an impetus for creating our own technologies, attract young people to science and make the university a leader in innovation in Central Asia," he said.

Satbayev University creates an environment where scientific ideas quickly find practical application. By opening new laboratories, University is becoming the center for developing the solutions that can influence the growth of economy’s key sectors.
