Satbayev University has opened Kanysh Satbayev Center at National University of Sciences and Technology in Islamabad

As part of the official visit of Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Pakistan, the capital of the country, Islamabad, hosted the grand opening of Kanysh Satbayev Scientific and Educational Center at National University of Sciences and Technologies (NUST). The new center will become a platform for evolving the joint scientific and educational projects, the exchange of students and teachers, as well as popularizing the Kazakh science.

The opening ceremony was led by Minister of RK Science and Higher Education, Sayassat Nurbek, and Federal Minister of Science and Technology of Pakistan, Khalid Hussain Magsi. The event was attended by Rectors of the region's leading technical universities, Meiram Begentayev (Satbayev University, Kazakhstan) and Muhammad Zahid Latif (NUST, Pakistan).

"Networking opens up great opportunities for us. Our students will be able to come here to practice and study, and students from Pakistan will come to us as well. Interest in the exchange of professors and joint projects is also very high," said Meiram Begentayev, Rector of Satbayev University.

The new Satbayev Center will become part of a broad program of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Pakistan aimed at deepening economic, academic, scientific and cultural ties in the region. It is expected that the given program will not only expand academic dialogue, but also contribute to strengthening the bilateral collaboration in the new technologies and engineering sphere.

Center is dedicated to the personality and achievements of Kanysh Satbayev, an outstanding Kazakhstani geologist, the first president of Kazakhstan’s Academy of Sciences, and the discoverer of the largest copper deposits. The academician's motto "Science must be accessible" formed the basis of the philosophy of the new hub: in addition to technical disciplines, Kazakh language and culture will be taught here.

The new Center’s uniqueness lies in its format and modern approach to learning. Satbayev Center at NUST was created as a living space for collaboration, where ideas can be exchanged and turned into international scientific projects. Students gain access to PolytechOnline platform and advanced engineering courses, while researchers can conduct seminars on artificial intelligence, mining, and metallurgy.

In the future, Center will become an academic and cultural hub for international innovation cooperation and "the point of attraction" for talents. Center’s work will be coordinated by Joint Coordinating Committee, ensuring constant interaction between scientists and students of the two countries.
