Victory as a system: Fanil Rafikov and Kamil Gadzhiev discussed with students the power of discipline and the place of technology in big-time sports
As part of SU Talks project, students met with Kazakh MMA fighter Fanil Rafikov and president of Fight Nights League Kamil Gadzhiyev at Satbayev University. The conversation was devoted not only to professional sports, but also to personal discipline, responsibility and the ability to build a long-term strategy in any field.
Fanil Rafikov answered the questions and shared his recent sporting achievements with the students. The Kazakhstani fighter successfully started the Grand Prix in the lightweight division of Fight Nights MMA league, defeating two-time winner of PFL Grand Prix Ray Cooper. For his services to sports and a bright victory in the Fight Night tournament, the athlete was awarded an apartment in Pavlodar city. The certificate for the apartment was presented to the athlete at the meeting to loud applause.
During the meeting, the speakers talked in detail about what stands behind high-profile victories and public success. The daily work, the role of the team, the ability to prepare for each stage and maintain concentration under pressure were discussed. Kamil Gadjiyev stressed that high-level sport has long gone beyond physical fitness and has become a complex system where thinking, analysis and long-term planning are important.
"I have always believed that a person should give results, not just talk. And here, preparation decides everything. What we do in sports is absolutely applicable to any sphere of life," he said.
Special attention was paid to education and new technologies that future engineers study. SU Talks format allowed students to ask direct questions and hear the live stories of people who went from the first steps to international recognition. The meeting was another example of how Satbayev University combines education, practice and dialogue with leaders from different fields, inspiring students to make informed choices and work on themselves.
