Young engineers from six countries presented the future of space at Satbayev University

On the eve of Science Day, Satbayev University hosted the final of IV International Competition on Space Technologies and Kazakhstan Smart Space Technology. The competition was held in technology festival format and brought together more than 60 project teams from 57 educational institutions in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, France and the United Arab Emirates. The participants, aged 7 to 22, presented their projects from mock-ups and working models to scientific research developments on 12 space-related topics.

Within the framework of Kazakhstan Smart Space 2025 competition, dozens of bright and diverse projects were presented, united by the idea of space exploration and the use of innovative technologies. The participants demonstrated mock-ups of satellites, lunar rovers and orbital stations, operating models of Martian bases, laser energy transmission systems and water collection plants in an extraterrestrial environment. Special attention was paid to the issues of ecology and space debris recycling. The jury selected almost 20 teams in different age categories.

Kazakhstan Smart Space competition, founded in 2021 on the initiative of Shukhrat Ibragimov, Marat Nurguzhin and Vladimir Zatolokin, has become an international platform for educational exchange and technological innovation in four years. One of the main tasks of the organizers is the implementation of UN Strategy "Agenda: Space 2030" goals, the promotion of "International Space Network Community" innovative program and evolving the TRIZATHLON project.

The contestants’ work is evaluated by leading experts of the space industry of Kazakhstan. The jury included representatives of NCSRT, Republican Center for Space Communications, scientific institutes and technical laboratories of the country. The event includes performances and master classes by leading Kazakhstani and foreign experts in the space field. The contest is supported by Satbayev University, National Center for Space Research and Technology and Kazakhstan Institute of Project Management. The strategic partner of the event was CenterCredit bank.

Satbayev University continues to shape the space ecosystem of the future, bringing together young people from different countries and developing their competencies in science, technology and entrepreneurship.
